- Contact with someone in the Congregation
- Visits (attending functions with the sisters, visiting the convent, and/or Participating in Come and See weekends)
- Education (Reading selected material on consecrated life, in particular information on the congregation)

Goals: To associate with the Sisters
To meet regularly with the vocation director
- Personal contact with a sister
- Become acquainted with the Sisters (through prayer, meals, celebrations, etc.)
- Read material for growth (in prayer, in maturity, and in knowledge of consecrated life and the S.C.I.M. Congregation)
- Attend regular meetings with the director (to discern one's call to consecrated life)

Pre Novice
Time Period:
6 months to 2 years

Goals: To pray, study and participate in the life of the sisters To facilitate the transition from the secular to the consecrated life
- Live with the sisters (financial independence)
- Deepen her understanding of Christian life
- Discern capacity for community living and life as a Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (S.C.I.M.)
- Become acquainted with the various S.C.I.M. ministries

Novice
Time period:
2 years

First Year - Canonical Novice
Goal: To prepare for commitment to the Lord as a Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
- Deepens her insight into her gifts and call
- Increases her knowledge and understanding of consecrated life as a S.C.I.M., vows, and prayer

Second Year - Apostolic Novice
Goal: To discern the apostolic service to which God is calling her to serve Him and His people
- Experiences different apostolates and ministries
- Deepens the apostolic spirituality of the Congregation and contributes to it through the uniqueness of her talents.

Temporarily Professed
Time period:
5 - 7 years

Goal: To consecrate oneself to God and become a member of the congregation by the profession of annual vows.
- Integration of prayer life, community and ministry
- Participation in an intense period of doctrinal and biblical formation
- Spiritual and professional development
A temporary commitment is made. Through this profession of public vows, made yearly, she is consecrated to God and becomes a member of the congregation.
