Walking side by side with the poor of this world, a ministry most dear to my heart.

Since I did not know any Sisters in the Good Shepherd Community, I was eager to read the life story of our foundress, Marie Fitzbach Roy, Mother Mary of the Sacred Heart. After reading her life, there were many edifying experiences that impressed me; but the words that left an indelible mark on my life were, “The glory of God, the salvation of souls, this is my life.” This is my life! This is the community of women God has chosen for me.

From generation to generation, the fire enkindled by this faith-filled woman was passed on, a heritage rich in fidelity, faith, love, joy and service.

"My path towards the Resurrection has been a journey on the road to Emmaus;
A walk on the shore looking for the Other set of footsteps;
Looking for a path and having the grace and courage to make my own;
Listening at the feet of the Master;
Bidding farewell to a special friend;
Living community life in the Upper Room;
And walking side by side with the poor of this world, a ministry most dear to my heart."

Our Mother Foundress said, "The glory of God, the salvation of souls. This is my life." Now, this is my life and my joy - that everything may be done for His glory!

May the Lord of the Harvest touch your hearts to journey in faith with us into the New Millennium.
